Never too old to ‘Trick or Eat’ in Guelph
GUELPH — This Halloween, students at the University of Guelph will be defending a title they’ve held for the past 10 years — and they don’t plan on giving it up any time soon.
Since the founding of the Trick or Eat event in 2001, the U of G has been the school to beat, each year collecting more food than any other university in the country. In their first year, Guelph raised more than $10,000 worth of food.
“It is the night that we get our single largest donation of food,” said Tracy Marchesich, Operations Manager at the Guelph Food Bank.
“The kids are amazing. They collect it, they drop it off, a bus comes here and they help sort the food and they help put it up in racking,” she said.

Please note: The Guelph Food Bank is requesting non-perishable food items such as pasta, sauce, rice, canned meats and fish, peanut butter, breakfast cereals, canned vegetables and soup, fruit juices, baby foods and diapers.
Trick or Eaters are planning on collecting from residents throughout all of Guelph, starting around 5:30 p.m. on the evening of Oct. 31.
