Weather Concerns

October 30, 2012 · 0 comments

A number of organizers have gotten in touch with us about what to do about the storms coming in as a result of Hurricane Sandy, as well as general advice about adverse weather conditions.

Organizers will be making a decision on Wednesday morning whether or not to run Trick or Eat in their community. They will communicate it to participants at your location, as well as ourselves and the supported food bank, as to whether or not it is safe for you and your volunteers to go out Trick or Eating. If there is heavy rain, thunder and lightning, or high winds, Trick or Eat will not run.

To help determine whether or not Trick or Eat will be safe to run, organizers will be keeping an eye on official weather notices. You can find them at http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/canada_e.html and http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/hurricane/statements_e.html.

If you are unable to Trick or Eat on Wednesday night, organizers have been asked to consider postponing it until the weekend. We suggest sometime Saturday, November 3rd, depending on what you think would work best with your community. Check in with your organizer for more details.

If weather allows you to Trick or Eat on Wednesday night, don’t forget to wear bright, reflective clothing. As well, make sure that food collected stays dry (carry umbrellas, have tarps if using pick-up trucks, etc.).

As always, feel free to get in touch with us with any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Heather and Praan
